What is Dental Insurance?

At One Manhattan Dental, we know that dental insurance can be challenging for many patients. That’s why we'll help submit your claim as a courtesy. However, it’s still important to learn the basics of dental insurance.

Similar to health insurance, dental insurance pays a portion of your dental care costs. Dental care covers preventative treatments, like regular cleanings, as well as any problems related to your teeth, mouth, and gums.

Types of Dental Insurance

Not all dental insurance plans function the same. These are some of the most typical dental plans today:

  • Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) are the most flexible type of dental insurance. With a PPO, visits to providers are covered whether they’re in-network or not.

  • Dental Health Maintenance Organizations (DHMO) designate a certain amount of money to in-network dentists for every covered patient. Patients with a DHMO plan must use their insurance network contracted dentists if they want to receive coverage for services.

  • Dental Discount Plans are becoming a more popular form of “insurance” offered by employers. Not considered traditional insurance, these plans form agreements with certain dentists to provide services to patients at a discounted cost. Patients don’t file claims, and there are no reimbursements.

Your Dental Insurance & One Manhattan Dental

At One Manhattan Dental, we deliver first-class oral health and dental care to all our patients. Our dental professionals are committed to focusing on the best treatment to ensure we deliver at the highest level.

Although we do not partner with insurance providers, we submit the necessary paperwork and X-rays to your insurance company for reimbursement. We provide this courtesy to our patients to ensure claims are correctly submitted and your reimbursement doesn’t take any longer than necessary.
